This third chapter will cover the tough experience that we had while we were in Chicago and believe me u guys can't imagine what we'd been go through and all of it happened in just one night and day!
I shall start with a story of the first beggar what we met. It was at Union Station and it was a young lady carrying a backpack and she asked me and my friend to gave her a few dollars ( maybe about two dollars) to get home because she said that she was stuck for 3 hours at the station because she didn't have enough money to go back! At first i was kind a believe her but since we have a lot of these kind of people in Malaysia we refused to give her hardly anything! not even a penny! She left while mumbling to herself!
Then when we arrived at the United Center, There were one man asking my friend a quarter for a bus ride! But one of my friend refused to allowed my other friend to gave him the money so she just said we didn't have any money and he left afterward.
Outside of the stadium while we were queued for the bus, there is one homeless guy asking for a donation by shouting to Help the Homeless!
Later after the concert, we didn't plan to sleep at any hotel actually because we wanted to save some money and so we decided to stay at the Union Station until the morning. We entered the station entrance and they were a few people that stayed over there too just like us! There is one guy that looks like a homeless sat near to us and when one of the police officer said something, he jumped from the seat and left ( u can't imagined how scared i am that time because he looks like wanted to scared all of us).
Then after one hour there, I came out with a plan to stay in a motel because I don't feel safe to sit there. And luckily all of them agreed! We looked for a public phone (they call it a payphone) to call to reserve a motel room and while we were looking around we bumped into one security guy that immediately asked us what we were doing over there?
He said that the place already closed at 10 pm and so he asked the rest of the people to leave and asked us to stay for awhile! It was like we had done a very serious crime by breaking into a train station without permission. The security then helped us by allowing us using the office phone and so we succeeded reserved a room for that night. He then escorted us outside and said that he will remember that moment for the rest of his life! hahaha...
Then we got into a cab and it's not a huge cab like we had before (not Mustafa cab), but just the ordinary yellow cab that supposedly meant for four people but we squeeze in for 6 people! That was hilarious... So then we arrived at the motel safely and woke up at 7 am.
We then get a cab to go the Millenium Park and once again we make the cab looked like a sardine can.... hahahaha... After we done doing city sightseeing, we get into the next cab and as u guys know we did it for the third time 6 people in one small cab! Something happened then, the cab driver had an argument with one guy at the traffic light because the guy suddenly changed his lane into the cab lane and it is obviously the guy fault. The guy shouted at the cab driver using bad words, "Fuck u ass hole! eat my dick!" and the cab driver just said that he sorry if he's doing it wrong (even he's innocent actually)!
Then the can driver apologized to us for what had happened and we didn't blame him because it is totally not his fault! After that we do a little bit of shopping and get into our bus to Columbus! The story did not end up there because apparently we didn't have any transportation to go back to Athens from Columbus (it takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes of driving).
But then Kak Hanni (one of the Malaysian here offered to picked us and we were so relieved)! While waiting for her, we waited at the Marriott Hotel lobby (after we asked for a permission) and played a 'Nama Negeri' game! It was fun and after that we went dinner with Kak Hanni and Pak Fauzi at African restaurant and we went home then.
It is one of my unforgettable experience in Chicago! I met a few people and I definitely gained a lot of knowledge and experience from this trip!
Until then...
